We often think of celebrities leading lives of luxury and ease, but we forget that many came from humble roots.

Some of our most famous celebrities today also served honorable in defense of our nation. Here are two dozen of the most recognizable silver screen stars who also fought for the Stars and Stripes.

After the birth of his daughter, rapper Ice-T decided that if he did not enlist in the military, he would likely end up in jail.

Ice-T, whose real name is Tracy Morrow, served in the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division from 1979 to 1983.

In 2012, the rapper, actor and entertainer felt the slap of handcuffs on his wrists anyway, after New York Police officers claimed he did not have valid automobile insurance. However, even the prosecutors admitted that his arrest was the result of a clerical error. The judge threw out the case, dismissing the charges altogether.
